Contacting Walk Leaders

When deciding to go on a Cestrian Ramblers walk the information on our website only provides general information and the name of the walk leader. Joining a walk involves notifying the walk leader of your desire to join the walk and hence getting hold of the walk details.

Contact information for the walk leaders is available from the Membership Secretary via the Contact page. When members become regular walkers she will provide them with a list of the walk leaders’ email addresses and telephone numbers. This list is not generally available in order to respect the privacy of the leaders.

The preferred procedure is to contact the walk leader directly two days or more before the walk, they will then be able to confirm the walk details with you, meeting place, lunch arrangements and starting time in particular and know who to contact in case of changes. For new walkers the leader will also check the walkers experience, whether they are likely to cope with the distance and that they have suitable kit for the walk. The two days notice is not essential but there is no guarantee that you can join a walk if the leader is not contacted in advance. There may be limits on numbers, travel arrangements or last minute changes.

For Sunday walks, as in the past we would normally meet at Upton Library at 9am in order to organise car sharing for travel to the walk start, however in case there is a change to this arrangement it is always best to contact the walk leader in advance anyway. Walk leaders will always try to make arrangements to meet at the library for a Sunday walk. Unfortunately the arrangement with the library to use their car park does not apply on weekdays due to other uses at those times.
